What does my child need to bring to Camp?

Campers should bring a towel, hat, sunscreen (apply 30 minutes prior to camp), long sleeve shirt, a change of dry clothes and a sweatshirt for cool mornings. All personal belongings should be labeled and brought in a backpack (also labeled). You can purchase some items, such as sunscreen, prior to the first day of camp.

Is it safe?

Matt Colapinto has been a Beach lifeguard for 35 +years. Every year he is required to attend a two day, first-aid/Life Guard training session and must be re-certified in CPR. Lead instructors are CPR and first-aid. The Kids camp maintains a 1:5 instructor to camper ratio ( When NOT surfing ) and require that a member of our staff act as a lifeguard at all times. In addition, during most hours of operation, an Orange County lifeguard is on duty from 10 am to closing-at the location near camp. Also; Denise Colapinto is an experienced water woman for her entire life; her knowledge of surfing and the forces of the Ocean and related beach elements is a key force.

What is the Instructor to student ratio?

For safety and  better personalized instruction, we provide surfing groups
 with 1:2 Instructor to camper ratio
Body boarding, body surfing, and beach activities is 1:5.

If I carpool, may I have someone else drop of my child/children?

Yes, please provide a note and have the driver picking up your child sign out at the end of the day. We try to make sure kids are aware of changes; However, please let child know of carpooling situations. 2 of our Instructors will walk kids to the TOP of T-Street for pick up after each session: see camper forms;

Where can I park?

Metered parking is available as well as residential parking further up from walking bridge.

May I observe my child?

Parents are welcome to observe their child on Fridays. We recommend that parents do not come everyday as, we have found, it takes away from their own child's experience. Of course, you are always welcome;

Do I need to pack a lunch for my child?

Campers can pack a mini cooler with snacks, however, Aloha Beach Camp, provides a big bowl of chips and huge cooler to drink from. Due to Allergies; we do not provide any other foods! If campers get items from Sponsors in the Friday Goody-Bags; please be advised and let them know and be safely reminded that we do not let them eat the foods or drinks until after camp...

Will my child be grouped with friends?

ALWAYS! Campers will be placed into a group (colored Rashies over the wetsuits) with siblings and/or friends the first day of camp; which last the entire week.

Yes, 18 years: Aloha Beach Camp is fully insured and licensed and obtains all of the necessary permits required by the State of California and local agencies. New City Ordinance requires that ANY LESSON MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE CITY OF SAN CLEMENTE TO CONDUCT BUSINESS ON A CITY BEACH;
